Volunteer with CityHelp

How volunteering works

Help your neighbors find food when they need it most — a few minutes at a time, on your own schedule.

What you'll actually do

Sam points New Yorkers to food pantries, community fridges, and meal sites. Those listings go stale fast — hours change, sites close, phones stop working. Your job is simple: pick a site, call it or check it, and confirm it's really open when it says it is. If something's wrong, you fix it. Each check takes a few minutes, all from your phone. No experience needed.

How to start

  1. Sign up with your email.
  2. We send you a private link — no app, no password.
  3. Open your queue, pick a site, and confirm or correct its hours and phone.
  4. We log your time automatically.

Why it matters

1 in 4 New Yorkers is food insecure, and SNAP cuts are making it worse. Every site you verify is a neighbor who finds real help instead of a closed door.
